Holistic Care For Children

More than half of Uganda's 27.6 million people are under the age of 15. Over the last two decades, 2.4 million of these children have been orphaned by AIDS, civil war, and other realities of life in East Africa. UNICEF expects this number to increase to 3.5 million by 2010.

Empower African Children helps meet their immediate physical needs, providing food, shelter, clothing, and medical care. But there's more to childhood development than having basic needs met. That's why we go further than most humanitarian aid efforts. We strive to also meet their educational needs, providing school fees, supervision, and faith-based psychological/social support for children between the ages of 6 and 18. These children are under our care until they complete their education. Our holistic care giving approach - with a focus on emotional and spiritual development in addition to meeting physical needs - is instrumental in creating community-minded citizens and responsible, educated adults.
