Beyond Academics
Food, shelter, and medicine can sustain a life, but to transform a child's life, nothing compares to education. This truth is at the center of the work of Empower African Children, where we have seen the power that education has to break children out of the cycle of poverty. Education increases self-confidence. Education teaches children how to make and pursue life goals. Education provides hope and a pathway to a better life.
And yet education remains out of reach to many of Africa's and Uganda's children. There are too few schools - and too few families able to afford to send their children to the schools that do exist.
That's why education is the foundation of Empower African Children's philosophy, vision and our mission. Especially the kind of innovative, whole-child education that reaches far beyond academics. By investing deeply into their lives, we help children discover and embrace their true potential. And we help them become the confident and creative leaders their communities need to affect positive change.
