Creating a World of Possibility

Mission

Empower African Children transforms the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children through the power of innovative education.

Empower African Children is a non-profit organization inspired by success stories from more than 15 years of work with Africa's vulnerable children. Launched in 2006 by child advocate Alexis Hefley - whose work with Ugandan children has earned her international acclaim - Empower African Children's programs provide a fresh new approach that unlocks the potential of this generation through an innovative education. Its holistic approach to education provides tools for success in life, creating confident, skillful, visionary leaders.

For so many children in Africa, the harsh realities of daily survival rob them of the ability to envision a different future - for themselves and their communities. Donations of food, shelter and basic education help tremendously, but these contributions often fall short of providing the kind of inspiration and self-confidence necessary to break through the status quo to effect personal growth and eventual social change.

There is far more to Africa than the images frequently displayed in the media. Communities are strong. Joy is prevalent. Faith is undeterred. And its children - many of whom are orphaned or vulnerable - are filled with possibility. Maximizing potential through holistic and dedicated support is at the heart of Empower African Children; all of our programs reflect this goal. Because we know that when someone believes in you - when someone is willing to invest deeply in you - amazing things can and do happen.

War, poverty and AIDS know no borders. Empower African Children's programs are initially focused in Uganda with the aim of expanding its reach to neighboring nations. Ultimately, Empower African Children's strategies are designed to address the complex challenges children face in this region of the world as they strive to succeed.
